Spiritual blindness

Physical blindness is the inability to see anything including light. Physical blindness is caused by various things, however, that's not what we are going to be looking into today. Physical blindness can require the aid of someone else, the same can be said of spiritual blindness. Spiritual blindness is worse than physical blindness. It is a condition that makes it difficult for individuals to see or understand God despite the fact that God is working all around us, pursuing us and showing us his glory. The scribes and Pharisee studied the word to teach people, still, they were spiritually blind. Why? Because they claimed to know everything. However, when the promised Messiah came they couldn't see nor tell because they had been blinded by self-righteousness. Spiritual blindness is sometimes caused when one glorifies himself above God's word. In  2 Corinthians 4:3-4 . Paul says, if our gospel is hidden from people, it's hidden because the god of this world has blindfold...

Two Kinds of Wisdom

Wisdom is based on our five senses, taste, smell, touch sight and hearing. Our human wisdom is dangerous and can even destroy us if we walk by it. Genesis 3:6 we see Eve working according to sense knowledge because he r decision came as a result of what she saw with her natural sight. The only way the devil was able to win over Eve was by making her see things in the physical realm,   that is to say, what she needed to do in order for her to be like God. Eve already had the wisdom of God within her but the devil shifted her eyes to fruit that was supposed to make her wise and that wisdom brought her nakedness.  When we walk in the realm of the flesh, sin is never far away and this could make us vulnerable to every attack of the devil. Genesis 3:7 says that they realised they were naked. Many people today walk in the wisdom of this world which is fully controlled by the devil. Earthly wisdom caused the builder in Matthew 7 to use the wrong foundation. T he foundation was te...

Importance of Meditation

Many people think that meditation is of the devil and that it's actually wrong for Christians to meditate. However, this is not true. Meditation can take many forms and how the world meditates is not how we as children of God meditate.  To meditate is to ponder on what you have heard and read. It's important that we think deeply and reflect on what we believe and how we put it into action. Without this introspection, we can forget the importance of living righteously and following the lessons of the word of God. We don't need a special place to meditate upon God's word, nor is it something we can be taught. We only need to allow God's word to fill our minds and we will see how edifying it can be. Meditation is a helpful form of stress relief and has many other health benefits. If it can help our physical bodies, how much more will it benefit us spiritually? The bible says, concerning Isaac, that he went out to meditate. I believe that Abraham must have taught Isaac ...

Humbleness

Humility is having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's importance. Humbleness must come from our hearts and not our heads. Humbleness can't be copy and paste but must be understood. Pride doesn't start in a day and doesn't destroy in a day. Pride is a slow poison that kills gradually but we must reject pride by humbling ourselves before God. Pride could bring down a man and destroy everything that he has worked for. The bible says that pride goes before a fall, Proverbs 16:18 .  King Uzziah had a humble beginning when he sought after God in the days of Zechariah. But when his heart was lifted, he destroyed himself as a result of pride. We must humble ourselves in the place where God has put us. It wasn't the king's job to burn incense in the house of God but because he had become great he had no respect for order anymore, even after being warned by the priest. It takes humility of the heart for one to listen to advice but a prideful heart will ref...

Faith vs Feelings

Feelings are an emotional state or reaction. Our world is built around feelings, you will often hear people say, "I feel sick", or. "I feel depressed". Feelings come as a reaction to something that we hear, smell, touch or see. But as believers, we should not build our life around feelings or talk as people in the world talk. Worldly people don't understand faith instead they trust what their five senses tell them. Their judgement is affected by our feeling. John 17:16 The emotions of people in the world can fluctuate, it doesn't seem to be on a study course. Today they feel young, strong and happy and tomorrow they feel the complete opposite because they are moved by the things around them. Jesus prayed for his disciple saying, "Father these people are not from the world." John 17:16 The disciples were still in the world yet Jesus said they were not part of it. When you don't talk the way other people talk they will think you a...

Overcoming Unbelief

What is unbelief?  Unbelief is believing something other than what God's word said about a particular situation. Many Christians think that just because they are saved, go to church regularly, believe that Jesus Christ died for their sins, and was raised from the dead, they can't walk in unbelief. In fact, some Christians walk in unbelief more than those who are not believers. Why is belief so important? Because if one doesn't believe in God's word, we can't see the impossible become possible. Mark 9:23 says all things are possible to him that believes. God has called us into the realm where all things are possible through him when will believe i n him alone.  Believing in God is what sets believers apart from the lost and dying world. The ways we can overcome unbelief are: 1. Constantly feeding on God's word in order to know his will. Romans 10:17 , ignorance is the devil's playground. As long the devil can keep us from knowing God's word,...

The Mind of Christ: Part 2

In Part one of this topic, we looked at what the mind of Christ is and how we receive it. Now let's look closer at what the mind of Christ does and how best we can use it. God doesn't give us anything for the sake of us having it. Everything he does has a purpose and it's important for us to know what that purpose is so that we can put it to use. So what is the purpose of the mind of Christ? 1 Corinthians 2:12  gives one answer to this, it is so that  we might know the things that God has freely given to us. There are things that God wants we, his children, to know. The natural man can not understand these things. They are beyond what we with our human wisdom could understand ( 1 Corinthians 2:14 ). Knowing things beyond a worldly understanding gives us a discerning spirit. We are able to make better judgments and decisions. When you have the mind of Christ you don't jump into something because everyone else is doing it or because it feels good. Y...
