Faith vs Feelings

Feelings are an emotional state or reaction. Our world is built around feelings, you will often hear people say, "I feel sick", or. "I feel depressed".
Feelings come as a reaction to something that we hear, smell, touch or see. But as believers, we should not build our life around feelings or talk as people in the world talk.
Worldly people don't understand faith instead they trust what their five senses tell them.
Their judgement is affected by our feeling.
John 17:16 The emotions of people in the world can fluctuate, it doesn't seem to be on a study course. Today they feel young, strong and happy and tomorrow they feel the complete opposite because they are moved by the things around them.
Jesus prayed for his disciple saying, "Father these people are not from the world." John 17:16 The disciples were still in the world yet Jesus said they were not part of it. When you don't talk the way other people talk they will think you are not normal but one thing they fail to know is that the moment we accept Jesus Christ into our lives we cease to be in the world and our walk here on earth is a walk of faith.
The defination of faith can be found in the book of Hebrews 11:1-6. Faith is the response of God's word in the human spirit. When we walk by faith we cease to walk by feelings. Feelings are a big hindrance in our prayer life. For example, let's say you have been given notice at your place of work, all hope of getting another job is lost. You begin to think about your rent, bills and and other expenses. Fear came in because you didn't know how you would be able to pay all of those bills.
Our feelings cause fear. They make us look at our current state and examine them based on our ability, and before we know it, we don't get the thing that we were believing God for. We think it's God's fault. As believers must have full control over our feelings. This will give us success in everything that we do.
In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we see that our faith walk is not based on sight. When our walk is based on sight, there is no result, things don't go our way. We see this in Matthew 14:28-29, Peter reacted to fear when he saw the wind and wave and ended up sinking. Our emotions will cause a shipwreck which leaves us in a bad situation.
Fear is a reaction of sight, and worry is a result of what we know is beyond our physical strength Matthew 6:25-34, Philippians 4:6-7. It costs us all that we have to worry over things and still there's no change because feelings don't change anything. Instead of worrying we should pray in all situations and make a petition to God. However, that's not what many of us do. Some people will cry, complain and look so depressed that everyone knows things are not going their way.
No that's not what God wants us to do. He wants us to pray concerning that situation and to have faith even if things don't look good from the physical point of view.
We walk by faith and not by sight, those people who walk by sight have found themselves in a great mess. As Christians, we should walk by faith and believe God. Hebrews 11:1, Ephesians 2:8, and 1 Timothy 1:14 show us that true faith is not based on empirical evidence but on divine assurance and is a gift from God.
The only way we overcome feelings is by totally responding to God's word and allowing it to have its place in our life. The power of the Holy Spirit will help us live beyond our physical senses. No matter what we are experiencing, God's is able to make all things work together for our good. We should praise God in all things. Don't magnify your problem but magnify your maker in the midst of your challenges.
