Don't Limit God

Philippians 4:19 tells us that God will meet our needs according to his riches. To fully understand what this means we have to understand who and what God is. God is infinite and must be seen as having no limits. Whenever we think of him as having limits, he is no longer God. He becomes a man-made god, like a statue that doesn't move. The only way to think of God is as being boundless in all that he is and does. He is not bound by time and space, he can see the beginning and the end. As humans, the concept of an infinite God is hard to understand ( Psalm 147:5 ). Everything we see has a limited lifespan, so thinking of someone as being limitless is difficult. Psalm 119:96 speaks of perfection, a worldly perfection, however, perfection in this world is not real perfection. It has its own limitations. In his commentary, Matthew Henry uses three examples to illustrate how worldly perfection is meaningless. Goliath was seen as the perfect man of war, but David overcame him. ...

Benefits of Speaking in Tongues

Speaking in tongues is so vital to the body of Christ that God has to give us the means to express ourselves to him. Speaking in tongues has caused so much controversy that many believe it is not something we need or of any importance to us. Some have even gone so far to say tongues are of the  devil.  Many believers know about it but they don't see any reason why they should seek this gift that God has promised His children. Any Christian that believes and accepts Christ into their life is born of God, that is to say, they are born of the spirit.  Some denominations say that Paul condemned speaking in tongues but 1 Corinthians 14:18 makes it clear that Paul himself spoke in tongues and did so more than the Corinthian believers. It wouldn't make sense for Paul to condemn something he himself was doing. We edify ourselves by speaking in tongues 1 Corinthians 14 4 . The more we speak in tongues the more we are edifying and charging ourselves up, in the spirit. Our  in...

Hearing God's Voice

When it comes to hearing God's voice, many Christians think this is only for a selected few such as pastors and prophet etc. However, that's not true, as God speaks to us all the time but because we are not in tune with his frequency we barely hear God speak and don't even know if he speaks to us at all. Many think God will not talk to them because they are a sinner, saying, I don't pray enough and so no. Although this is partially true, it is not the main reason. Revelation 3:20   explains that Jesus Christ is knocking, all the time, at the door of our spirit but our frequency is tuned to the wrong channel.  The ability to hear God's voice and know God is embedded in our spirit. John 4:24 says God is a spirit and it's our spirit that communicates with him, not our mind or thought. If we think about what we give out time to, we will see that our frequency is mostly tuned into the pressures that we are experiencing. We cannot hear God speak to us in this kind of...

The Armour of God

A spiritual battle is not physical and it should not be dealt with in a physical way. Many believers have engaged in a physical battle and believe they are fighting a spiritual battle. Now the first thing we should ask is what is a spiritual battle and how should we engage in a spiritual battle? There are many challenges that we must overcome.  The devil doesn't have any power against us as a believer because Christ Jesus had defeated him at the cross. That doesn't mean we should fold our hands and do nothing because it not so. The book of Ephesians says we should put on the whole armour of God, in other words, once we are saved, we have the whole armour of God placed upon us and all we need to do is grow up in knowledge so that we know how to use them.  Belt of Truth:  John 17:17 ,   truth is of the utmost importance in the life of a believer. Without truth, the rest of the armour would be of no use to us because we would not have the spirit of truth,  John 15:...

Benefit of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the act of giving thanks; grateful acknowledgement of benefits or favour, especially to God. Thanksgiving comes with knowledge of what God has done or is doing in your life. The psalmist answered this, you can't show appreciation if you don't know what you appreciate God for. Our salvation is worth thanking God for all the time because that is what grants us access into the kingdom of God, through the blood of Jesus Christ. In  1 Thessalonian 5:18 , we see that it is the will of God for us to thank him at all times, whether we are facing eviction, financial or family issues, we should give thanks in everything.  Psalms 103:1-3 , says to bless the Lord with all of our being, this is irrespective of what we are going through in life as we see in  Habakkuk 3:17-18 . Even if there is no food or money, or if things don't look good from the outside, still we will bless God. To thank God is to put him first and see him first in everything that ever hap...

Spiritual blindness

Physical blindness is the inability to see anything including light. Physical blindness is caused by various things, however, that's not what we are going to be looking into today. Physical blindness can require the aid of someone else, the same can be said of spiritual blindness. Spiritual blindness is worse than physical blindness. It is a condition that makes it difficult for individuals to see or understand God despite the fact that God is working all around us, pursuing us and showing us his glory. The scribes and Pharisee studied the word to teach people, still, they were spiritually blind. Why? Because they claimed to know everything. However, when the promised Messiah came they couldn't see nor tell because they had been blinded by self-righteousness. Spiritual blindness is sometimes caused when one glorifies himself above God's word. In  2 Corinthians 4:3-4 . Paul says, if our gospel is hidden from people, it's hidden because the god of this world has blindfold...

Two Kinds of Wisdom

Wisdom is based on our five senses, taste, smell, touch sight and hearing. Our human wisdom is dangerous and can even destroy us if we walk by it. Genesis 3:6 we see Eve working according to sense knowledge because he r decision came as a result of what she saw with her natural sight. The only way the devil was able to win over Eve was by making her see things in the physical realm,   that is to say, what she needed to do in order for her to be like God. Eve already had the wisdom of God within her but the devil shifted her eyes to fruit that was supposed to make her wise and that wisdom brought her nakedness.  When we walk in the realm of the flesh, sin is never far away and this could make us vulnerable to every attack of the devil. Genesis 3:7 says that they realised they were naked. Many people today walk in the wisdom of this world which is fully controlled by the devil. Earthly wisdom caused the builder in Matthew 7 to use the wrong foundation. T he foundation was te...
