Benefits of Speaking in Tongues

Speaking in tongues is so vital to the body of Christ that God has to give us the means to express ourselves to him. Speaking in tongues has caused so much controversy that many believe it is not something we need or of any importance to us. Some have even gone so far to say tongues are of the 

devil. 

Many believers know about it but they don't see any reason why they should seek this gift that God has promised His children. Any Christian that believes and accepts Christ into their life is born of God, that is to say, they are born of the spirit. 

Some denominations say that Paul condemned speaking in tongues but 1 Corinthians 14:18 makes it clear that Paul himself spoke in tongues and did so more than the Corinthian believers. It wouldn't make sense for Paul to condemn something he himself was doing.

We edify ourselves by speaking in tongues 1 Corinthians 14 4. The more we speak in tongues the more we are edifying and charging ourselves up, in the spirit. Our intellectual capacity will increase if we speak in tongues frequently. Many Christians speak in tongues on average once in a week, when they go to church or attend a prayer meeting. This is not how to use tongues, it is for the purpose of charging us up in our personal prayer life. We see Paul and how inspiring his life was because he prayed in tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 the bible says, 'he that speaks in tongues speaks mysteries in the spirit that our human mind can't understand'. It's so important for believers to know that the Holy Spirit never leads us wrong when praying in tongues. Do you know that you can be settling a matter in the spirit when you pray in tongues? Our local language can't express our need properly but when you pray in tongues your spirit is searching your heart and prays through you.

Our spirit knows all thing 1 John 2:20, but we have an unction from the holy one, and we know all things. From the physical realm, we don't know everything but in the spirit realm, our spirit knows all things. This is one of the reasons why speaking in tongues is so good because you know everything.
