A spiritual battle is not physical and it should not be dealt with in a physical way. Many believers have engaged in a physical battle and believe they are fighting a spiritual battle. Now the first thing we should ask is what is a spiritual battle and how should we engage in a spiritual battle? There are many challenges that we must overcome. The devil doesn't have any power against us as a believer because Christ Jesus had defeated him at the cross. That doesn't mean we should fold our hands and do nothing because it not so. The book of Ephesians says we should put on the whole armour of God, in other words, once we are saved, we have the whole armour of God placed upon us and all we need to do is grow up in knowledge so that we know how to use them.
Belt of Truth: John 17:17, truth is of the utmost importance in the life of a believer. Without truth, the rest of the armour would be of no use to us because we would not have the spirit of truth, John 15:26. Our stand against the wiles of the devil is based on the truth which is God's word alone and nothing else. Anyone who attempts to stand against the wiles of the devil through their own word will fail. The bible makes it clear that we fight not against flesh and blood that is to say physical fight but our fight is spiritual. It's a waste of time to fight a spiritual battle in the physical because that would weigh us down. God is a spirit and they that worships him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Since God is a spirit and God's word is the spirit that will balance the life of every believer.
Without the truth of God's word, we don't have any stand. The word of truth is a revelation of who God is and our righteousness in God through Jesus Christ. Truth is a defensive weapon that a Christian needs in order to withstand the schemes of the devil. Knowing the truth and applying it will set us free John 8:32. Psalm 119:11 says the entrance of God's word gives us light. It's difficult for anyone who knows the truth to be defeated by the devil because they have the life of God in them.
Breastplate of Righteousness: Psalm 106:3 Living a righteous life through knowledge of God's word enables us to stand against the wiles of the devil. We put on the Breastplate of Righteousness by living according to God's word. Isaiah 54:14,17, righteousness is a great defence that we have over the attack of the enemy since the arrow of the devil is not physical even so is our defence in Christ. The bible says that Abraham believed in God and it was counted to him as righteousness. Righteousness is right standing and since it is right standing no enemy can withstand us.
Gospel of Peace: John 14:27, Isaiah 52:7, Romans 10:114-15. The gospel of peace is what Christ has done for us on the cross of calvary, many don't have hope but through the gospel, they have been able to awaken back to life. Without the gospel of peace, it would have just been a gospel of sorrow. Imagine walking through a rough path without any shoes, you would sustain all kinds of injury and be unable to deliver the message of God. But thank God because the gospel of peace is bearing fruit everywhere.
Sheild of Faith: Ephesians 6:16, 1 John 5:4, Matthew 14:23-33. Paul says to extinguish every arrow of the evil one, a shield is also a defensive weapon that God provides for believers. No matter what the enemy throws at us, it will not stand so long as we believe and stand in faith. When the waves and wind were disturbing the boat, the disciples were afraid but Jesus stood up and rebuked it that it so that it didn't overpower them. The devil can try as much as he wants but his power can not work on us.
