2. Do not make an image of anything in heaven or earth or bow down to it. ( Exodus 20:4-6 ) Some people liken this to the first commandment, but this commandment goes further. Anything can be an idol in our lives, it's not just about bowing down to another god, but making something that we then worship. There are many people in the world who bow down to the image/statues of Jesus and Mary and sometimes even saints, doing this turns them into idols. In  Matthew 4:9-10 , we see the devil trying to convince Jesus to worship Him. Jesus' response tells us that neither Mary nor any of the saints should be in receipt of our praise or prayers, so there shouldn't be images of them in the first place. On the issue of images/statues of Jesus,  Exodus 20:4  makes it clear that nothing in heaven, nothing on earth and nothing in the waters below should be formed into an image that is worshipped. This includes Jesus, angels, the sun, the moon, stars, birds, cows, fish, plant...

1. You shall have no other gods before me. ( Exodus 20:1-3 ) We know that God is a jealous God, he doesn't want to share his glory with anyone. The term '...no other gods before me' relates to a Hebrew term which means no other gods before my face or beside me. God is telling us not to have any other gods in addition to him. The Egyptians worshipped several gods, as did the other nations. However, God wants his people to look to him and him alone. He is the one true God, who provides all that we need. He choose Israel as his own people and brought them out of bondage. They already believed that there was only one God, but this principle had to be set in stone in order to set them apart from everyone else, Egyptian practices had to remain in Egypt. Israel had to know what was expected of them and that they were different to the other nations. They were his people (we are his people) and he didn't (doesn't) want to share them (us) with anyone else...

Almost everyone, has heard about the Ten Commandments , but how many of us actually know them or what they mean. Why are they important and how can we apply them to everyday life? Please join us over the next 10 weeks as we look deeper into this text, starting tomorrow with the first commandment.

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message,  and the message is heard through the word about Christ   Romans 10:17 The bible tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God ( Heb 11:6 ). Faith is believing in and trusting God even though things around us may not be going in the direction we expect them to. Faith isn't something we can will ourselves to have, neither can you make someone else have it. Romans 10:17 teaches that faith comes from hearing the message, this is the message of Christ. When we open our hearts to the message of the Gospel, it enables us to experience true faith. We need to remain in the word, for it is through the word that we learn more about who God is. The more we know Him, the more we want to know Him. It's knowing Him that builds up our faith, so we encourage you to continue to seek Him in His word and experience true faith in Jesus name. 

Every human being on Earth needs development in their life from one stage to another. A person can develop his/ her physical body which can lead to a massive change in their life. For example if I need to increase in size or reduce there are things that I must do in order to ach ieve this. We are required to develop our spirit being in the same way. Developing our spirit being is also like developing a relationship. Every relationship needs to be developed whether we like it or not, if there is no development in our relationships there is no growth or trust and that relationship will not last long. The more we develop our spirit the closer we are to the things of God. Developing our spirit involves: 1. Meditation upon the word:   Joshua 1:8 ,   Psalm 119:97-99   meditating on God's word builds and increases our spiritual life a lot, as already stated, if you want to increase in size physically you need to eat the right food and train your muscles. ...

In a race, there is only one winner. But in the Kingdom of God, everyone is a winner. If someone stumbles during the race, we should do what we can to help them to the finish line. Galatians 6:1-3 , instructs us to help our brothers and sisters when they fall. This shouldn't be done in a holier than thou manner, because we all at some point have and will make a mistake. This should be done out of love, with words of support and encouragement. Providing continued support, advice, and encouragement is what all believers should do to one another, Colossians 3:16 . When you know that you have people fighting in your corner, who want to see you succeed and experience the best that God has, it gives you more strength to overcome the difficulties you may face in life. Let it be, not just our desire, but also our mission to hold up our brothers and sisters and not pull them down when they are in need. We are running this race together.
