Set The Standard - Introduction

Romans 12:1-21 Peter 2:11-12,

The words Jesus spoke in Matt 6:8, are similar to those in Lev 18:3. Jesus called us to be different to those in the world, he taught many times on this subject. One of these instances was the sermon on the mount, which gives some outlines on how we are to be different form others.

Over the next few weeks we'll be looking at how we as believers are to Set The Standard, how do we show ourselves as different to those in the world.

Lets start by looking at Matthew 5:13-16. Salt brings out the flavour of food, without it the food can be bland and tasteless. If we are the salt in the world it means we are to bring out the best from people, we are to show them who they were made to be. In being the light of the world, we are to show them the greatness of God, we are to lead them towards him and show them what it is to have God in their lives.

How are we to do this? What does the sermon on the mount teach us about being different?

There are different areas of life which are covered in the sermon on the mount and throughout this series we will be looking at each one. Don't miss out on this amazing series, next week we will look at the first area, which is Relationships. Come back and discover how we are to set the standard in our relationships.
