He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds. Psalms 18:11-12 God was hidden from sight within the darkness of the clouds, but even there he still shinned bright. Verse 12 says that the brightness was before him, meaning that though he was covered by dark clouds, for him it was still bright. He still commanded all that was around him, verse 12 also refers to the clouds as being his, God wasn't overcome in darkness, he put the clouds there to hide himself. We don't always see what God does, sometimes the trials of life can be like a canopy and at other times God hides himself. This is when we need to put our faith into action and know that he is still in control. In these two verses we see that God continued to work behind the scenes.
